Welcome To The Whitsunday Islands.

The Whitsunday Islands lie midway along the Queensland coast, extending from Bowen in the north to the Shaw Island group in the south. The coastal township of Airlie Beach is considered the gateway to the 74 islands of the group. Only eight of the islands are inhabited.

To the east of the islands is the Great Barrier Reef, which extends from Torres Straight in the north to Lady Elliot Island in the south, a distance of some 2000 kilometres. The closest point of the Great Barrier Reef is only 17 nautical miles ( 30 kilometres ) from Hayman Island, a short cruise when the weather is favourable.

The Great Barrier Reef protects the islands from the larger ocean swells providing one of the safest cruising grounds in the world. Heart Reef, The River between Hook and Hardy Reef’s, Bait Reef, and Knuckle Reef are some of the most popular and scenic destinations for those exploring the outer reef.

Magnificent corals, colourful reef fish, Whitehaven Beach, the walking trails, snorkelling, diving, and relaxing in a calm secluded anchorage are some of the highlights of your cruise of the Whitsunday Islands.

The ancient cave and rock art at the end of the walk in Nara Inlet. A short but very informative walk from the beach up to the rock overhang used by the indiginous inhabitants of the islands prior to and for some time after European settlement.
